The Brenton family

I recently shot my aunt and uncle's beautiful family! The two girls, Jenna and Erin, are just precious (and quite the models). It was a pleasure to photograph such a good looking family!

Home Sweet Home

Newfoundland, my home.

Over the years I've traveled to many countries and lovely places. Nothing beats home. It was the first time I'd been home in 6 years. The scenery was good and the company was even better.

Trikes rides, beach walks, late night dancing, post dinner cards and tea. Shed hangouts, dock fishing, boat rides and salty air.

Sweet Tooth

A Twist on a Sweet Tooth

Chocolate Chips. Chocolate in general - many a woman's ultimate weakness. This week I had a sweet tooth and instead of going straight to Bulk Barn's chocolate aisle, I decided to bake cookies and book a spontaneous early morning shoot to get rid of this craving.

I grabbed some barn board, the basic ingredients to make chocolate chip cookies, the cookies them self and the gear. I found some tear sheets on Pinterest that I repinned for inspiration, I keep an inspiration board on Pinterest called "Photography Love" that I update daily.

I woke up before the sun the morning of the shoot, there is something about waking up at 5:30 that makes the day seem so much longer. I grabbed a Tim's (Roll up the Rim is back! - but it doesn't matter, because I never win anyways), and headed to the school. This cookie shoot was a difficult one. It was hard to organize a scattered look, but I managed to get the effect that I wanted after a couple hours. I thought it would be a good idea to make a diptych, so I stacked the cookies (that I shot on the floor - more difficult than you think) and put the two together for an organized - messy look.

I've really gotten into food photography lately, I am doing my co-op with a fantastic food photographer in Toronto in April, I am so excited to learn the techniques that Jodi Pudge Photography uses.

I don't even like blogging!

I am a photographer, of mainly food, and the one thing that I know for certain is the fact that I'm not a writer. Definitely not a writer. And although it will be some type of torture for myself, I will post weekly blog updates starting this week for the sake of keeping you lovelies updated and to acquire the assignment points for my Multi Media Applications class.

So, that being said, here we go! Last week myself and my good friend Jessica Glura spent a good chunk of the day admiring food magazines and sipping Starbucks at Chapters.  We both love food photography, although our styles may be different, we work together and support each others work. After some helpful inspiration from magazines like Bon Appetit and Clean Eating, we set out to the studio loaded down with utensils, cameras, soft tacos and blueberries.

Jess and I had a great night of shooting. She shot beautiful breakfast plates and I shot a spread of soft tacos. Even though we knew we had class at 9 a.m. the next morning, we stayed in the studio much after midnight and turned out some great shots. We we're tired the next morning, but it was totally worth it.
